How to Image an iPad
This process only works if the iPad in question has been enrolled into Jamf, our management system for Apple devices. Ideally, thisĀ should apply to all iPads throughout the company. If you have an iPad that is not enrolled in our management system, please contact helpdesk@markeys.com.
iPads that are enrolled in our management system shouldn't need to be imaged very often, as they are locked down enough that they are mostly only effective as an accessory to control another piece of equipment. However, if you experience something not working right, giving it the ol' reset can't hurt.
If the iPad is able to boot...
- Open System Settings.
- Go to General. (This is usually the default.)
- Scroll all the way down and select Transfer or Reset.
- Select Erase All Content & Settings.
- The iPad will reboot and take you through initial setup. You are required to set some kind of passcode, but it can be whatever you want.
- Note that this method does not update the OS. If you have time and this iPad is not immediately needed for a show, please install any available system updates.
If the iPad is unable to boot...
If you have access to a Mac, contact helpdesk@markeys.com, and someone from Event IT will help you use the Mac to reset the iPad. This method is a more complete wipe than the method listed above and will also install the latest version of iPad OS.
If you do not have access to a Mac, you will need to send your iPad to Indianapolis HQ so Event IT can access it physically.
