How to Image a MacBook (THE NEW WAY)

If you have not worked with Evan to migrate your Apple devices to the new management system, this guide will not work for you. Use the old method.

Connect to Internet

The MacBook needs an internet connection for the imaging process. This does not necessarily need to be through an imaging network; any internet connection will do.

Erase All Content and Settings

  • Power on the Mac and sign in.
  • Open System Settings.
  • Click General in the left sidebar. (This should be the default.)
  • Scroll all the way down and click Transfer or Reset.
  • Click Erase All Content and Settings.
  • Follow the prompts.

Follow the Setup Steps.

  • Set up as new
  • Set up without another device
  • Enroll in MDM
  • Enter markeys as the username and password.
  • Select Set time zone automatically.
  • Wait for the progress bar to finish.

The speed of the progress bar heavily depends on your internet connection. If you suspect it's taking longer than it should, you can click Exit on the bottom of the window, then click Your Apps in the left sidebar, and that will show you more granular progress. You will also have the option to retry the install if there's some kind of failure.

Check for Updates.

Go to the Apple Menu and select Software Update. Install any updates that are available.
