Setup at the event
Panels are packed into 24x24x4" boxes, holding just enough panels to complete one 2x2x8' column. Weight of a filled box is close to 45lbs. Printed hardware will arrive in small boxes, often Pelican cases, labeled by color and type.
Hands need to be freshly clean when handling the panels. The white plastic will hold any grime and smudge, so care needs to be taken to keep the panels show ready. Brand new panels show up with a protective film which should be removed just before show time. Peel each corner, load the hardware, slide the panels into the columns, and then remove the film later. It will create static, so have some dryer sheets or a vacuum on hand to clean off any dust attracted to the plastic by the removal of the film.
Assembly goes faster with one person loading the hardware onto the panels and another person sliding the panels into the frame. Cover three sides, then lift the column upright and slot the final side in from the top. An included custom printed wrench will help tighten the bolts, but they don't need to be very tight at all. You can snap the head off the bolt if you over tighten. There's plenty of friction to keep the panels from sliding if you only tighten them gently. Use the wrench and your fingers will thank you.
Tear down is the reverse of setup. Take the back off through the top, lower the column to the floor, and slide the panels out horizontally.
TAKE CARE TO ORIENT THE PANELS CORRECTLY. Make sure you know which side is the bottom of each design and the bottom of the column. The bottom of the column has more crossbars, making a wonky cross, than the top does which only has a single cross. Put a 30lb weight on the cross and set your light on that. This will ensure that the column doesn't rock or tip during use.
