Accuracy or Output? Understanding Variable CRI in the Paragon S

One of the things that makes the Elation Paragon S so versatile is its Variable CRI (Color Rendering Index). It allows you to prioritize either color accuracy or maximum output, depending on what you're trying to accomplish.

For front light, IMAG, broadcasts, and recorded content, we want the fixture running at a higher CRI. The improved color rendering helps skin tones look natural, colors appear more accurate, and camera feeds look their best. Unfortunately, this comes at a cost to the output of the fixture. A Paragon S is about half as bright as a Fuze Max or Artiste Picasso in a higher CRI mode. 

On the other hand, the Paragon S output is a lot more comparable to its larger profile counterparts when used in a lower CRI mode. If you are using the fixture to paint a room with color or project gobos, color accuracy becomes less critical.
